Austrian Championchip Mountain

Völkermarkt and Diex were this year’s venues for the Austrian Mountain National Championship in road cycling. Nearly 100 starters started at the main square of Völkermarkt on August 18th to determine the fastest climber in the country. After 3.5 laps or approx. 60 kilometres around Völkermarkt the final 9-kilometre climb up to Diex follows. The initial phase of the race was marked by several attacks, but no rider was able to distance himself decisively. Thus, the elite field entered the final climb almost closed. The ascent to Diex has an average gradient of 8%, but mainly includes steeper passages at the beginning and end.

At the foot of the mountain, the pace was immediately picked up at the top and the field broke up into several groups. Chase team rider Manfred managed to stay just behind the leading group and drove a strong race. He completed the climb in about 25′ and was able to catch up another group of drivers shortly before the finish. With the Chase-Up wheels and the Chase seat post he also had optimal material at his disposal to bring his bike as close as possible to the regulated 6.8 kg minimum weight. In the Austrian Championship scoring Manfred just missed the top 10 and finished with a strong 11th place!

ETU EM Kitzbühel European Triathlon Championships

From June 15th to 18th, Kitzbühel invited to the ETU Triathlon European Championship. Top-athlete Tom Thalhammer took part in it.

Already in 2014 he finished in fourth place over the sprint-distance. This time, his goal was to overcome the olmypic distance.

At the first discipline, swimming, Tom placed third.

Equipped with the aerodynamic ChaseUp carbon-wheels he went into the cycling track, where the athlete could save himself the first place for a short amount of time.

During running the triathlete had some health problems and was forced to pause.

Despite the loss of time Tom Thalhammer finished in excellent 7th position.

Time trial Wienerwald Cup 2017

The Wienerwald Cup is a very famous time trial racing series, which consists of five single races, all organized by Radclub Mödling.

It’s a perfect opportunity for everyone who loves cycling to demonstrate one’s skills.

The Wienerwald is especially favoured by bikers, because of its beauty and straightforwardness. The Roads are fairly diversified, apart from many plane sections you will also have to overbear several elevation gains.

The bikers started on April 28th at 6:30pm in Gainfarn.

The grand final took place on June 9th. This time the bikers had to drive 15km and overbear 450m elevation gains.

Cycle marathon Leithaberg

Leithaberg-Radmarathon, handcrafted in Austria, carbon, rim, Grenzgasse 111 9/6/6, St. Gabriel, Felix Schneider, Peter Fröhlich, Chase

Felix Schneider and Bernhard Weis lined up for the Leithaberg cycling marathon on June 4th for team Chase in category  “120km men elite”. They performed 3 rounds with each 40km in length. They also had to face several short and long elevation gains.

The event started at 9:14 a.m. for those who chose to cycle 120km.

The bikers had to cope with extremely high temperatures. Therefore, their top priority was to optimally use their strengths and constantly keep an eye on their fluid balance.

The race has been additionally complicated by the tough wind conditions, which are mostly typical for Burgenland.

Triathlon Linz

On the 27th of May Bernhard Weis participated in the Linz triathlon and could fortunately improve his personal 1,9/90/21km distance record.

He had a great start in the swim, it only took him 30 minutes to achieve the first target.

His aerodynamic bicycle enabled him to drive 36km/h on average. In only 2 hours 35 minutes he could easily finish the 90km.

Probably the hardest part of the triathlon, the run, turned into an heated battle due to the hot temperatures the bikers had to cope with.

Therefore, their top-priority was to permanently keep an eye on their fluid and energy balance.

At the end of the day, special thanks to Lukas Steinbichlers and Philipp Gahs cheering, Bernard Weis reached the finish line in 05:04:46 h.

MTB World Cup Nove Mesto

From May 19th to 21st the Cross Country World Cup in Nove Mesto na Morave invited cyclists from all over the world. Manfred Zöger participated in men’s elite class.

He arrived in the small town in the czech Region Mähren on Friday. The evening short track race was already quite crowded.

On the final race on Sunday, Manfred hat a delay caused by a crash in front of him. However, in spite of his spill, he made the notable 96th place.
